Lata Panwali Kedarnath Trek

This trek provides you with one of the rarest views of the entire range of Yamunotri, Gangotri,Kedarnath and Badrinath peaks. In the process you pass through the seven bugyals (high altitude meadows) of Panwali Kantha, where if you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the blue mountain goat. This trek is part of the ancient pilgrims trail from Gangotri to Kedarnath, in the tradition of Vamavrata Yatra that began from Yamunotri and ended at Badrinath, after paying respect at the Gangotri and Kedarnath shrines.

Day 01: Delhi - Rishikesh (230 km /7 hrs.)

 

Meet at Comesum Restaurant outside old Delhi Railway station at 11 a.m. Drive to Rishikesh. Lunch enroute. On arrival at Rishikesh check into the hotel. In the evening visit Temples, Laxman Jhoola and Triveni Ghat for Arti darshan. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 02: Rishikesh-Uttarkashi (Drive 155 km 4-5hrs.)

 

After breakfast drive to Uttarkashi .Located at an elevation of 1158 mts. on the banks of river Bhagirathi, Uttarkashi is an important pilgrimage center equated with Varanasi or Kashi in Divinity. Temple of Lord Vishwnath is located here along with other important temples like Ekadash Rudra, Bhairav,etc. Lunch, dinner and overnight at hotel/guesthouse

 

Day 03: Uttarkashi- Lata – Belak (2571 m /8432 ft.) (Drive 22km & trek 15 km /7-8 hrs.)

 

Early morning after breakfast drive to Lata (22 kms.). This is the base to begin the trek with packed lunches. Start first day of the trek to reach Belak. Dinner & overnight in tents.

 

Day 04: Belak-Budhakedar (1524 m /4998 ft.) (trek 14 km /4-5 hrs.)

 

After breakfast and with packed lunch we will trek to Budhakedar. This will take about 5 hrs at leisurely pace. On arrival set campsite. Dinner and overnight in tents.

 

Day 05: Budhakedar-Ghuttu (1524 mts./4998 ft.) (trek 14 kms./5-6 hrs.)

 

After breakfast Start we trek to Ghuttu . Ghuttu is a small villLage on the banks of the Bhilangna river,& is the last road head for Khatling glacier and Panwali Kantha treks. Dinner &overnight stay in hotel /touristlodge/tents.

 

Day 06: Ghuttu-Panwalikantha (3970 m /13021 ft.) (18 km /6-7 hrs.)

 

Start early and trek with packed lunch after a heavy breakfast to Panwalikantha. Panwali Bugyals lie at far flung heights, ranging from 2745 meters to 3970 meters. There are open grasslands and undulating slopes studded with patches of forests. With the advent of summer, the snows melts away and the flowers and herbs blossom forth to carpet the bugyals (meadows) in a riot of color. Dinner and overnight in tents.

 

Day 07:Panwalikantha-Triyuginarayan - Sonprayag (1821 m /5972 ft.) (20 km /6-7 hrs.)

 

After breakfast start early and trek with packed lunch to reach Triyuginarayan. From here drive to Sonprayag (12 kms). Exquisitely set amidst mountains, Sonprayag lies at the confluence of the Mandakni river from Kedarnath and the Vasuki Ganga, from Vasuki Lake. Dinner and Overnight stay in hotel/ tents.

 

Day 08:Sonprayag – Kedarnath (3584 m /11755 ft.) (5 km Drive & 14 km /4-5 hrs.)

 

After breakfast, 5 kms. drive to Gaurikund and trek 14 kms to kedarnath with packed lunch. The temple is magnificent in its style and architecture and to construct such a temple at this height over one thousand years ago must have been quite a feat. It is the abode of Lord Shiva and one of the famous Jyotirlingas-Dinner and overnight in hotel/lodges/tents

 

Day 09: Kedarnath-Guptkashi (drive 35 km &trek 14 km 6-7 hrs.

 

After breakfast Trek 14 kms to Gaurikund with packed lunch. Drive to Guptkashi- Guptkashi is important destination on the route of Kedarnath and Madhmehashwar.one is rewarded with fabulous landscapes enroute , where Chaukhamba and other Himalayan peaks loom over the horizon. Dinner and overnight in tents.

 

Day 10: Guptkashi-Rishikesh (Drive 191 km 6-7hrs.)

 

Drive to Rishikesh after breakfast with lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight in tents.

 

Day 11: Rishikesh -Delhi (Drive 220 km 6-7hrs.)

 

After breakfast drive from Rishikesh to New Delhi via Haridwar lunch enroute. Disperse

Things you need to bring

  • Big Rucksack (if you have one) or big bag to be carried on mule
  • Small rucksack which u will carry,
  • Shirts,
  • Pants/jeans, (woolen/Cotton),
  • Woolen jersey, thick jacket,
  • Woolen muffler/balaclava,
  • Gloves,
  • Inner garments (woolen / Cotton),
  • Yhree to four pairs of thick woolen socks,
  • Light rain coat,
  • Goggles (other than blue color),
  • Torch with extra batteries,
  • water bottle,
  • Face cold cream,
  • Soap,
  • Towel,
  • Toilet paper,
  • Adhesive plaster,
  • Talcum powder/antifungal powder/cream and,
  • first-aid kit including medicines you use normally.
  • Directly Molded Sole Shoes or trekking boots are a must for walking.

Safety of the participants will be utmost on our agenda/even if the trek has to be abandoned in between. Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek routes for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, we cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

Decision of Our leaders for the journey and on any matter regarding the trek will be final.Our experienced set of guides, porters, cooks & mules will always be there along with our leaders to take care of all your out door needs.

Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and checking out.
